How can I book a place on a charter boat?

Where can I fish in Weymouth?
The main fishing hot spots are Chesil Beach, Preston Beach, Portland Bill, Pleasure Pier and the Stone Pier. For more information on each of these destinations, see our sea fishing marks page.

When and where can I catch Mackerel?
The Mackerel normally arrive in Weymouth during late April or May and stay until September (sometimes October if the temperature stays warm). The best place to catch them is anywhere along Chesil beach or off the two piers (float fishing or spinning only).

Do you need a licence to fish in the sea?
Currently no licence is required to fish in the sea. The only restrictions are on Bass, from January until June there is a complete ban and the rest of the year there is a one Bass per angler per day limit and it must be a minimum length of 45cm. Where is a child-friendly fishing venue in Weymouth?
Around the inner harbour is perfect for crabbing and catching small fish.

What leads do I need to fish Chesil beach?
We recommend fishing with 4oz-6oz leads with breakaway wires. This must be fished with a shockleader (we recommend a shockleader of 60lbs).

What is the best bait for crabbing in the harbour?
Mackerel, squid and sand eels are the most naturally scented bait for crabbing.

Do you sell tickets to fish Radipole Lake?
We sell day tickets and season tickets for Radipole lake. We also sell Dorchester and District Angling Society memberships and can advise on other local coarse and Carp fishing venues.
