The TLD-30 2 speed reel has the same drag system as found on non-two-speed TLD reels, but more heavily engineered for even tougher work. These reels offer the option of switching from high-low-high speed retrieve as fishing situations dictate. If you are pumping a 200lb+ Scottish skate up through 400ft of water, you'll need low. If a high-flying billfish changes course a rushes back towards the boat, high speed will help you maintain contact with the fish and minimise the risk of slack line.
